WANNABY is a mass market mobile AR technology that allows shoppers to 'try on' a product (clothes, shoes, watches, etc.) before buying it. Computer vision and rendering technologies are constantly enhanced for maximum accuracy, resolution and realism, making fashion universally accessible through digital full look experiences. The platform powers two apps: WANNA NAILS for nail polishes and WANNA KICKS for shoes, mainly sneakers.
S: WANNABY was founded in the late 2017 with the idea of focusing AR on hands. By the time when I joined the company in July 2018, Wannaby had developed Wanna Nails – an app that allowed consumers to 'try on' nail polishes. By summer 2018 we realized the nail polish market was limited and started to explore new directions. Sneakers seemed to represent an interesting area and we started to build several demo videos of what a virtual shoe fitting might look like. We pitched it to several prospects and, after some super positive feedback, decided that's where our focus would lie.

The team was inspired enough to develop a demo app, Wanna Kicks, in just six months. This was a unique offering and people loved it.

Over the course of 2019, we made a number of integrations with brands and retailers across the globe. By the end of the year, we had started to transition from a technology-based to a product-based company. We continue to invest heavily to transform the app into a digital fashion platform for the younger generation. Having recently launched virtual try-ons for watches, our next major goal is apparel.

The team at Palta are way more than just partners for us. I regularly go to Yuri with questions about product development and marketing to benefit from his unique perspective and intuition. Alexey Gubarev coaches us on business development and is always on hand to help with negotiations.

The strong ties we have built with other Palta co-founders have also been a great help. Palta is basically its own ecosystem in which we support and help each other to develop faster. whether that's working with common partners, making an introduction or sharing industry data. For example, we regularly talk about marketing matters with SIMPLE, while the guys at FLO offer plenty of operational advice.
