Alexey is THE person when it comes to finding the right people to form start-up dream teams. Throughout his entire career, Alexey has demonstrated an enthusiasm for both people and finance. Prior to joining Palta, Alexey was a Partner at Purehunt Executive Search and HR Advisor at Target Global VC, where he built and strengthened the executive and management teams of portfolio companies.
1. What is your role at Palta?
I work closely with our companies to help them find the best people. Once I understand their needs and goals, I begin the search for co-founders at the start of their journey, and then the talent to bolster teams as they evolve.
2. Do all team level positions fall under your remit?
That is pretty much the case at the beginning of the company's journey. Then, during the later stages, I tend to focus on key executive and hard-to-close positions. And as a company grows, I will also advise on creating an internal hiring process.
3. What kind of people should reach out to you?
If you believe that you have a certain expertise and can add value to our portfolio companies, then let's have a chat. Sometimes a role can be created for the right person, and even the company can be matched for the right fit.
4. What is your ultimate advice to founders?
Don't be reluctant to hire people who may be smarter and more knowledgeable in their fields of expertise than you are.
5. Is it true that you play in a music band? How do personal interests affect a company's culture — and visa versa?
Yes, I've been playing drums since I was 14. I'm part of a rock band and we still perform regular gigs. It's a lot of fun! Tech business can be really stressful, so it's crucial to know how to rest, refresh and just switch off. A cocktail by the pool doesn't always do the job - although it can help. In my experience, most successful people have hobbies they devote a substantial amount of time to, such as travel, sport, music, and philanthropy.
